Here is another story from Witnesses of the Faith, a series of short videos about the lives of Catholic saints, martyrs, and witnesses to Christ.
St. Thomas Aquinas wrote more theology than perhaps any other Catholic writer in history. He authored the Summa Theologiae, shaped Christian thought for centuries, and became known as the Angelic Doctor.
Yet one mysterious encounter with God changed everything.
After a profound mystical experience while celebrating Mass, Thomas Aquinas abruptly stopped writing forever.
When asked why he would leave his greatest work unfinished, his answer stunned those around him.
“All that I have written appears to be as straw…”
What did God show him?
In this video, we explore the extraordinary life of St. Thomas Aquinas, his holiness, his genius, and the mysterious event that caused one of history’s greatest minds to lay down his quill forever.
