The Reign of Terror had turned executions into public spectacle. Crowds gathered daily, expecting noise, fear, and the familiar rhythm of death.

But on one evening, something was different.

Sixteen Carmelite nuns were brought through the streets toward the guillotine. They had lost their convent, their way of life, and now their freedom. The charges sounded political, but the truth was simple: they had remained faithful.

What happened next left a mark on those who witnessed it.

This is the story of the Martyrs of Compiègne.

In 16th-century Japan, Christianity spread rapidly across the land—until it was suddenly outlawed.

Among those condemned was Paul Miki, a Jesuit priest and gifted preacher. Along with twenty-five others, he was forced to march nearly six hundred miles to his execution in Nagasaki.

What followed was not what anyone expected.

As the crosses were raised, Paul Miki did not remain silent. From the place of his death, he began to speak—proclaiming the Gospel and forgiving those who had condemned him.

The execution meant to silence him became his final sermon.

Blessed Franz Jägerstätter is remembered as a witness to a truth no power can command: the conscience belongs to God alone.

I'm thrilled to announce a new YouTube channel which I've started where I make compelling videos of events in the lives of the saints.

The channel is called Witnesses of the Faith, and each week I will be uploading a video which features a particular saint or holy person in an event which demonstrates heroic virtue.

These are thrilling and gripping stories, and the very first one I uploaded was about Father Damien of Molokai.
