Top 5 Reasons the Reformed Church of God and David C. Pack are not the True Church

David C. Pack is the pastor of the Reformed Church of God. His teachings are very ironic and contradictory.

Upon first hearing his video, I was sure he was an advocate for the Catholic Church. His video was talking about which church is the true church of God. The Biblical proofs he uses are the same that are typically used by Catholic apologists. However, his conclusions are pretty hard to swallow or downright contradictory. Here's a list of reasons why his church's teachings are contradictory or false:

1) Jesus founded ONE Church
He says Jesus established only one church and that is has existed for 2000 years. This is true. Pack claims that Church is the Restored Church of God (RCG). Yet, it is easy to see that the RCG was founded by Mr. Pack only recently. How can this be the one true church founded by Jesus Christ? We cannot find history of people believing and practicing the same beliefs as this particular church. The pastor on the website bemoans the number of churches that have sprung up over the years. Yet, he is doing the same thing by starting this church.

2) Why is it called "Restored"?
On the one hand, David. C. Pack claims his church is 2000 years old and that it is the church that Christ founded. Well, if that's true and it has survived ever since, why is it called "restored"? Something that has not ended does not need to be restored.

3) Is the church large or small?
First, Mr. Pack says the church is supposed to be small and he gives Bible verses to prove this. But then later he says all Christians should be united in the same faith and that Jesus prayed for unity. Well if all 2 billion Christians shared the same faith, it would certainly not be small. This is a contradiction.

4) "Underground" Church Theory
Mr. Pack subscribes to a new popular theory held by many Protestants and that is of the "underground" or "hidden" church theory. Proponents of this belief say there was an original church founded by Jesus, but then in the year 325 Constantine came around and started the Catholic Church which persecuted the real church and destroyed evidence of it. This is merely a conspiracy theory. The lack of evidence for an underground church can be explained away by saying the Catholic Church destroyed the evidence. However, there are many holes in the theory. Many core Catholic beliefs, such as the eucharist, were believed right from the start. Writings such as the Didache show that early Christians adhered to them. So why don't most Protestants believe those things now?

The only thing this theory shows is that these groups recognize that in order for a church to be the true church that Christ founded it must have been around since the start. I think what Mr. Pack is presenting is an unconvincing theory that his church has always been around.

  1. This reminds of a church that I have seen from I-20 on my way to Atlanta called the Church in the Now. There is so much wrong with that, I don't know where to start.

    3. So I just read his book The True Jesus and it was shocking and all this slander doesn't mention that he proves with countless scriptures that churches are not preaching what Jesus said I don't know this guy I don't care who he is but I grew up in churches and never heard the say that Jesus taught the gospel of the Kingdom of God which is in the Bilbe a hundred times they say the gospel of grace why change what Jesus said why not explain those words as for him he doesn't sound crazy he points out with no confusion exactly not interpreted what Jesus said and no review even mentions it just like churches don't the whole book is scripture backed by scripture on scripture I'm gonna believe Jesus and not a false gospel shame on us all.

  4. God puts those He calls into His church. You can't join it. Only the few are called now. Christ calls it the little flock. A church is not a building but assembly of elect. Their work is to proclaim the coming Kingdom of God & to feed the sheep doing that work. God is not trying to save the majority of people now. There are 2 groups of Christians;-1 is the very small group of called out disciples and the other is the false christianty of millions that represent a false christ of salvation thru grace while breaking God's Laws. 99.9% of christianity is decieved and Christ will tell them in that day,-"I never knew you".

    1. It was called the "litte flock" because at the time he said it it WAS little. Doesn't necessarily mean He said it was always going to be little. Especially when the Great Commission was to take the Gospel to the whole world!

    2. The true church will always be little and constantly persecuted. Satan sees to it. Many people only think they are Christian. There actions give them away.

  8. Look, it is true that the 10 commandments are not being observed by 99% of churches / christisns. It is true that 99% of God's laws found in exidus are not followed today! Jesus said it best, love is the primary law! If there is no love for God and love for your fellow human beings, there is no saving. It is tough to love everyone: muslims who persecute my family is one example. How many of us can sell everything we own to follow Him? My 2 cents

    ReplyDelete
  9. you have to follow all of gods commandment there are a total of 613 commandments in the whole bible but most people dont even follow the ten he outlined it takes more than love for instance how many disobey the fourth commandment alone which is the sabbath even worse how many pastors dont preach it along with all the rest of gods commandments

  10. Actually he's not saying that "his" church is the true church, he's saying that the true church is the one that follows all of Jesus Christ's teachings. He never actually says "follow me because my church is the one true church," he's saying follow the Bible and Jesus because Jesus' church is the one true church. I think you've closed your mind off from the truth.

I'm so glad I left the protestant sects years ago, there are thousands of splinter groups with their own spin on the Gospel...I prayed to God to show me the truth ...thank God He led me to The Catholic Church. My soul is nourished and at peace in Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. I listen to our Vicar The Pope who is graced with the truth by the power of the Holy Spirit. I hear the Holy Scriptures every day at mass. NO spin...no false interpretation..only TRUTH.

  13. Have you researched the Latin meaning of the word "Vatican"? Also, I don't appreciate much of the Protestant church these days either, but, show me a church that doesn't bow down to anyone but the one true God... No statues, crosses, idols, pictures, nothing... And show me one that respects the true Saturday Sabbath, and give me assurance that I CAN in fact worship as I please....

These people in the Bible were MEN, just as Clergy and the Pope are men... or, as a growing number of Churches believe, UNSCRIPTURALLY, by the way, women as well...

Show me true faith and show me someone that really knows how to study and teach the Bible, and I'm there...

It is NOT a dead letter, and it IS for us to study and live by, but yes, things in it WERE changed...

As it is, I'd like to find my Saturday Sabbath and knowledge and rest in Christ....

  14. The Restored Church of God (RCOG) is indeed a cult. How else could you describe a so-called church where they use documented mind control tactics to persuade their members? What else besides a cult would work so hard to get their members to sell their houses and give it to Pack's fund, take out second and third mortgages, give up to half or more of their income, put themselves in unbelievable debit, give up all of their friends and alienate their family, divorce their spouses (if not their first spouse, then all other spouses are considered illegitimate and must be scraped off)? Their charismatic sermons instill anger and hatred of all other people who are not in the church. This church prays on people who are searching for structure and a strong message, and they proceed to take everything away from them and then use flattery, ego stroking, and mind control tricks to turn these people into unbelievable zealots. Hatred of everyone and everything else that is not the church is just the tip of the iceberg.

The doctrines and teachings of this cult are extremely charismatic, invasive and destructive, but they get away with it because their ministers are masters of manipulation. They know how to stroke the victim's ego and make them believe that they are special, sooooo smart for choosing the right church, and one of the chosen few who will be a part of the REAL church when the end comes. Everyone I met that was associated with this church was an incredibly smart, but also incredibly ego driven person that was constantly seeking approval or validation for their life choices. Like any other cult they really know how to find your soft spot and dig in. They want the smart, opinionated and ego-driven types. They convert them into drones who work endlessly to fund the Pack money and power machine. If you disagree in the slightest with anything (that includes wanting to ask for more clarification on a point or asking a "but..." question), you are tossed out on your ear.

Sorry to rant on about this, but I have had several dear dear friends completely ruined by this church. One eventually committed suicide because they had nothing at the end. The church took everything from them, demanded more and provided no support, no help, no love, and was only interested in deconstructing them and turning them into something I could not even recognize any more. One dear sweet lady is now convinced that she betrayed God and is just a tortured soul who will likely never again know any sort of hope or peace with God.

I just hope that someone, somewhere reads this and avoids getting involved with this cult/church. There are so many good, hopeful and happy churches in the world that it hurts my soul to think of the people that are hurt so badly by this terrible cult.

  15. Sadly, this church keeps rolling on. The leader, Pack, is a documented false prophet that now claims he is an apostle. He preaches endlessly to the faithful (foolish) few that they should work to support the church. Work to fund the church at all costs. My neighbor is an elderly man in his 70's that is in poor health, but has been sucked into this church to his detriment. He has been told that retirement is not something discussed in the bible, so he should continue to work to fund the church even if it means he works himself into the grave. Apparently this church does not believe that anyone has a right to enjoy their own life, and that every breath you take and every moment should be dedicated to them and making money to support their lying leader, Pack. He is a documented liar and has been known to say whatever it takes and demolish people for his own benefit or whim. How can these people be so gullible?

    1. It amazes me as well how anyone can follow this guy. He does have a lot of truth and is a good speaker but some just can't see beyond that and what kind of person he really is. It is hard to believe this man does what he does to get money and how he treats people. He is a proven liar, has no mercy or compassion, he is a thief, a con man, he steals third tithe money sent in to help others but rarely uses it for that and people don't even realize it, a control freak, extremely self focused and puffed up with pride and arrogance, a delusional man who is now blinded by his self importance. I hope god can still reach him but he seems pretty hardened in his ways. It really is hard for me to see David Pack as the kind of person he has become, I am not judging him, God will do that, but what I and others see are facts and we need to be aware of him and stay clear.

    2. People wonder how some can follow such a man as David C pack. The reason they do is because Pack does have a lot of truth and that's what people want, they just want the truth when it comes to God, and so when they hear and know it is true what he says they continue listening and believing and think this must be the true church. The problem is truth and error mixed is extremely deceptive and hard to spot especially if most of what is said is true. After while the error is accepted with the truth and the person is now deceived and believing everything that now is being said. They believe they are the only ones that have the truth and will give in to whatever Dave Pack cons them into,

    3. A gratful believer of the way of truth that leads to life12:42 AM, July 18, 2014

its sad to see so many people come against a man they don't even know, he teaches gods truths that are in scripture , an backs it up by true historical facts. I think the problem all you critics have with him is that you don't have all the facts about him or what he teaches , some of you down right lie about him cause your so deceived yourselves not to mention un educated that you make false assumptions for your own lack of knowledge an errors . All he does is teach the truth according to correct translations of scripture an gives freely the books an info, only mentions they are supported by freely given tithes an offerings from those that are called out of the worlds way of thinking an doing an called into the church of god, as it is called over 12 times in the new testament . If you took the time to read some of his books along with scripture you might see him differently. He never says follow him or anyone else except for the father who calls one into the grace an knowledge of Jesus who is the salvager of the humane species, were saved by his life (ressurection)Jesus also made it possible to have the spirit of god as a comforter, councilor that he teaches thru. Its called the restored church of god because there was a falling away after Armstrong died in 86 an the ones that tried to power grab his position all fled an started there own splinter groups ., which all came against him an took on false versions of gods truth along with a false gospel about Jesus , they were led back into worldly thinking led by the evil one that was a teller of lies from the beginning . He (pact) even says don't take another mans word for it when it comes to gods truth but prove all things according to the scriptures, both old an new testament. Armstrong even said the church of god is a organic spiritual organism, with one builder who is Jesus who is one with the father for one purpose, by one spirit. Quit judging an criticizing him who teaches the closest to bible truth youl be fortunate enough to have in these times, the clocks ticking you decide.

    4. You are so incredibly wrong about Pack that it is obvious that you are one of the RCG minions.

Pack teaches his own personal interpretation of the bible that has absolutely nothing to do with reality and the complete scriptures. He reads his own interpretation into everything to serve his own purposes. He constantly tells his followers what to think and how to think, and they for some reason are too lazy and too brainwashed to question anything he says. Now, he tells everyone that he is an Elijah, a prophet, an apostle and that he is the only one that can truly interpret the gospel. He also tells his congregation again that they should sell or mortgage their lives and send it all into him. The funny thing is that he won't sell his own multi-million dollar house and give the money to his cult-church.

This snake-oil salesman also tells his followers that the disciples of satan will attack him and anyone who does not agree with him is from Satan. His followers are just too stoooooooooopid to figure it out that he is just hedging his bets. A real apostle would take all criticism and revel in being able to answer all questions with verifiable FACTS, not his own personal myths constructed from fake musings that he constructs in his own mind. Lately he has also been claiming all sorts of BS miracles that are just outright lies. His latest "whoosh!" stories of cars passing through other cars to avoid accidents are just plain ridiculous. Telling his congregation that these "miracles" are coming from members of the congregation, but he never once has bothered to provide one iota of proof to anything he says. He just drones on and on and on and on until his followers are hypnotized by the BS he spews.

Just like HWA, Pack is a thieving liar that loves to manipulate his followers into thinking him some sort of magnificent being. The man is a documented liar that is fabricating BS to meet his needs. One of these days, Pack is going to disappear with a whole lot o' cash and leave a lot of his cult buddies wondering what hit them. Maybe before then a few will wise up and leave this cult of fools.

    5. Yea, right. Have any of you out there actually read any of his publications? What a load of nonsense. Every one of them rambles on and on and on and it takes pages to get to any point. Most of these publications are just senseless ramblings that could have been summarized into one or two paragraphs instead of a 30 page "book". He interprets the scriptures in his own very special way and then he runs a mind game on you to try and get you to agree with him by citing half-truths or his own "interpreted" scripture. He wants you to prove you believe him instead of challenging you to prove him wrong, which would be the more honest way of presenting information. He never has a discussion about anything, he just drones on and on. He won't even allow his ministers to preach a sermon. Everyone just has to sit around and listen to his pre-recorded nonsense and are not allowed to have their own opinions. He wants mindless fools in his church and that is pretty much what he has.

Am I being deceived? Well its obvious that I am....but by who????

  20. The path to salvation is belief in Jesus Christ and that he died on the cross so that we may be spared. From that point, our faith is strengthened thru prayer and study/meditation of the holy bible. The Lord is our link to salvation and to GOD. It is a simple process but obligates us to be sincere and want it. DCP is one of many that have used the bible as a means to acquire followers of their own vision. We should not allow ourselves to be drawn into false teachings and arrangements that are designed to make a person comparable to what Jesus did for us. Pray for all those that are blind and weak that they will see the light and hope our Lord provides.Amen

  21. Being Catholic Rocks !!!4:48 PM, November 11, 2015

Folks - let this not be another anti-catholic blog. There are too much of those around. All I see are people constantly condeming the Catholic church. Christ did say to not cast stones. I am Catholic. I speak to Christ every day. He is my older brother. I go to Him when i do good and when I messup.

Christ have given me a great life. I live in a million dollar house, I have very expensive cars but funny enough, I choose him more than all the material blessings I obtained. In fact i told him that yesterday.

I suggest, that protestants should stop condemming Catholics and live happy with us.

Message: Talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words. I am Catholic and being it Rocks. Additonally, if Christ wills it, I will buy a maserati next year and will have a rosary on my windshield for all to see.

  22. Easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to go to heaven. Leave all that you have and follow him if you love him so. Walk as heed did poor monetarily but spiritualy rich. Will you spread his word from your Maserati? The Catholics did in fact kill upwards of 50 million people that held the Saturday sabbath in 363 ad look it up and she is the whore with many harlots being off shoot churches. How can the Vatican being so rich even speak about helping the poor and hungry. The meek shall inherit the earth not the rich and the new earth under Jesus Christ's rule will be where reborn Christians will go. God has blessed us all with what we need to live physically and spiritually Satan provides us with what we covet. Take heed and listen not to what your head desires and only indulge in what your body needs. A naked man can live with a spring and few trees that bear fruit so long as his spiritual needs are meet by God. Condemned your thoughts that lust after fleshly possessions and praise your heart for only wanting salvation. Even the blind should now see that the end time prophecies are being rapidly full filled. God bless you all find Jesus and your search for the truth will be over. Glory and love be to and from God.
